Quality of Care

What Does Quality Care Mean?

Quality Care means that you receive the right care, at the right time, in the right way, in a safe environment. This includes getting the proper screening and tests when needed. We encourage you to participate actively in your healthcare. Help us help you stay healthy!

VA’s commitment to Quality & Safety

We put patient care first. Providing the safest and best quality health care to our nation’s veterans is the most important goal of our health system. We want our beneficiaries to receive the kind of care that we would expect for ourselves and our families. That’s why we work hard to measure the quality of the health care we provide. Read more…

How we measure up?

VA collects data on the quality of care of their services so that Veterans, their families and the public have reliable information to help them understand the quality of care we deliver. We compare the quality and safety performance data of our own VA facilities to those of private health care facilities so that Veterans and their families can make informed health care decisions. These comparisons are available on the Medicare website called CMS Hospital Compare.

VA also publishes a Quality and Safety Performance information on all VA facilities. This information shows our commitment to achieving the highest standards of patient care, and it explains how we measure our performance.  Click here to view Quality and Safety Performance Information.
